Number 1 - B

1. Introduction

Now it’s your turn! This is the next MeetUp but being led by your Match. The language phrases will be similar and the Activity the same, but you’ll see it from your match’s point of view. Whoever was the Host last time, now becomes the Match and the other student becomes the Host.

Hopefully, you’ve had some fun making your first video. Don’t make this one exactly the same. Do something different while showing the group something interesting about your match.

2. Language Learning

Host, these are some suggested phrases to teach in your language:

  • Welcome to my home.

  • This is the dining room.

  • I sleep in the bedroom.

  • What is that?

Here is a helpful video on how to record your Zoom calls!

3. Activity

Host House Tour

Give another house tour, but this time your Match shows you their house. Don’t forget to go outside and show your Match around your house. Be careful not to lose your internet connection. Be sure to show areas of your home that have importance to you. Showing hallways are less important than showing the rooms where you and your family spend most of their time. If there are pictures on the wall or items on display that have meaning for you and your family, stop to explain them and why they are important to you.

Here’s an idea for your video, do a time-lapse video of your tour and insert it in your V-STEP video. We would see your house really fast!!!

4. What Would You Do?

It’s your first week of your exchange and you’re at the home of your match. Your match has lots of friends and he/she hangs out with, and you’re invited to a welcome party where your match introduces you to his/her friends. Toward the end of the party one of the friends comes up to you and asks you to come outside. Once there, they are passing around alcohol and offer some to you. You want to fit in but are very uncomfortable. What would you do?

5. Make Your V-Step Video

Now make your second video. Hopefully, you have worked out some of the technical details to making the video and Uploading to the V-STEP Team. Be sure to use our private Dropbox account to Upload it to V-STEP, just like you did the first time. !  If you upload the video before June 7th, it could be shown during the Group Meeting on Sunday, June 7th at 2pm EST. If after, it could be shown during the Second Group Meeting.

6. Prepare For Next Week

You two are AWESOME! You’ve completed your first two MeetUps where you showed each other your homes. Hopefully, you might be able to have an actual visit and see each other’s home for real!

Now email, text or call your Rotary contact and tell him or her you’re ready for the link to your next V-STEP MeetUP Guide! You should know who that is because he or she gave you the link to the Second MeetUp Guide. But if you are not sure who to contact, send me an email and I’ll send your Rotary Contact name. And don’t forget to tell me who you are!

Your next two MeetUps will be all about you and your family. Be ready to introduce them (and say something nice about your brother or sister!)
